SINOPSE: A série retrata uma família de classe média, Frankie Heck (Patricia Heaton), casada com Mike Heck (Neil Flynn), residem numa cidade fictícia chamada Orson, Indiana. São pais de Axl (Charlie Mcdermott), Sue (Eden Sher) e Brick (Atticus Shaffer). Mike é gerente na pedreira local e Frankie é a terceira melhor vendedora de carros usados (de três vendedores). Brian Doyle-Murray é o chefe de Frankie, Mr. Ehlert, na "Ehlert Motors". Chris Kattan é o amigo de Frankie chamado "Bob" na concessionária onde trabalham. A família Heck é mostrada muito frequentemente em frente a televisão, já os jantares da família são constituídos basicamente por congelados e fast-food.
